The Eve of St. Pat's

Our Leprechaun traps are set.
They are baited with gold rocks, gold jewelry, and Bushmills Irish Whiskey.
Tomorrow we will see if we are successful with this years traps.
Until then, I leave you with these two questions posed to me by Finn.

1. If Leprechauns and Pirates both like gold, do they bump in to each other sometimes?

2. How does a Leprechaun turn the toilet water green if he's so small and only pees a little bit, and I'm big and when I pee I only make the water turn a little bit yellow?

Belief and Fear

Elfa is our Scout Elf sent to us from Santa.

He arrives in early December and reports to Santa all the good and less than good behavior he observes from Niamh and Finn.

Though he is supposed to leave on Christmas Eve, and not return until the next December, Elfa has been known to show up during times of unusual behavior unbecoming of any child hoping to receive a Christmas gift ever again in their entire long life with me and Steve as their parents. (Can I get an Amen.)

Recently, Finn was in a bit of a bad mood. All he wanted to do was watch television and be a grumpy 6 year old.  When he wouldn't eat dinner, I told him to go downstairs and take a shower before I threw him in bed. A meltdown followed that lasted way too long.
Finally, from the downstairs bathroom, he started crying that he needed me to go downstairs with him because he didn't want to be alone. He explained that whenever he's bad, Elfa shows up. Elfa can just poof himself here and Elfa might poof himself to the bathroom when I'm showering and I don't want to be alone. It really scares me!

Friends, Kids, the lesson to be learned here is that even Santa has a dark side. Watch yourselves.
HO! HO! HO!

Tattooed

I don't know how the conversation started, but tonight I told the kids that when they were babies, I had my phone number tattooed on their butt. Maybe there was no conversation leading to the topic. Sometimes its just fun to mess with them.
Of course, they doubted me for a second, but I told them I wasn't kidding and that if they were ever lost and couldn't remember my phone number, they were to go somewhere private and look for the number. I told them its written in small numbers because they were just small babies when it was done..they might have to squint to see the numbers.
They left the kitchen, there was giggling, Niamh said she saw the numbers on Finn's bum, between the cheeks. Then Finn came in the kitchen with his pants down to show us where Niamh found my phone number.

Sometimes I just love being a mom. Its powerful.
